Messengers

Hi there,

Happy new week! I trust you've been graceful.

Please indulge me for a moment while I unravel today's message.

I was among those sent on a discreet mission to a land faraway. Leaders of each sect went along. For forty days, we trekked and trekked till we got to our destination.

When Moses sent them out, he said to them, “Go north from here into the southern part of the land of Canaan and then on into the hill country. Find out what kind of country it is, how many people live there, and how strong they are. Find out whether the land is good or bad and whether the people live in open towns or in fortified cities. Find out whether the soil is fertile and whether the land is wooded. And be sure to bring back some of the fruit that grows there.” (It was the season when grapes were beginning to ripen.)

Numbers 13:17‭-‬20 GNB

We saw fresh fruits 🍑 🍇 that appealed to our taste buds. In fact, we lived on these fruits daily.🌝

We carried out a covert observation and sauntered back to our leaders.

Wow, for forty days, all the other leaders could see were the giants that cruised in the land. They even went further to draw comparisons. And all they could come up with was that we were grasshoppers beside them. Numbers 13:26-33😠

Caleb said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it’ (Numbers 13.30b). But others objected, ‘They’re way stronger than we are. They spread scary rumours’ (vs.31–32, MSG).

There is always going to be opposition but do not be put off by the giants.

The people did not think that they could defeat the giants. Only four individuals (Moses, Aaron, Caleb and Joshua) believed God was greater than the problem.

My angst was visible 😡. My clan that looked up to me had listened to the negative utterances from other leaders. They joined in complaining to Mr. Moses and Rev. Aaron.

Only me and my friend, Hoshae (Joshua) the son of Nun had something "favourable" to say.  The confidence with which we said it, alarmed my people for they were afraid of death. They even threatened to stone us, if not for the timely intervention of our Maker. Having spoken, I confided in Mr. Moses, the Commander and Rev. Aaron, the chaplain.

Joyce Meyer comments, ‘Sadly, we often stare at our giant-sized problems instead of at our God... I believe that more time spent worshipping and praising God would help us keep a clear focus and enable us to go forward with a strong, positive attitude, believing we can do anything God tells us to do.’

We must not forget that we all are God's messengers in this land. Things might look bleak and the task ahead looks insurmountable.

Whoosh! Take a break.

Choose to see beauty even in the forty days. Forty days is so long to see negativity.

Remember, you become what you behold.

  2. O LORD, may I see you and your sovereignty in everything around me (Romans 1:18-21) that my testimonies as your messenger may be graceful.

  3. I choose to see how God sees. And not realities. The spies saw the giants as 'bread'. What is bread meant for? Bread is meant to be eaten. Therefore, giants are meant to be overcome.
