Resurgence
Hi there, it's been a lovely day, yeah?
Hang on a minute while I introduce today's topic.๐
Times are changing and so are we.
It is no news to anyone about the unpleasant happenings in Nigeria.๐ณ๐ฌ
Sometime last month, Nigerians took to the streets to protest against the cruel treatment received from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Refusing to be imprisoned by several hand-me-down favours from the Nigerian Big Men, the struggle intensified.
As the struggle continued, we awaited some form of comment from the President but as that delayed in coming, the youths became edgy.
Without entertaining any form of distraction, the struggle became more real as several Nigerians who had suffered from the inhumane treatments meted out by these operatives, retold their stories. These stories were relatable and this triggered the youths to heighten their undertaking.
Sadly, the government considered this demand as irrational and opened fire on its citizens. This dastard act infuriated the hearts of many.
Prior to this, the protest had been termed peaceful. Several lives were lost for a worthy cause.
After what seemed like ages, the President finally addressed the country๐ค, and well, he believed he did. Every nook and cranny was astir and the question on the minds of Nigerians was, how did we get here?๐ณ
Following the Presidential address, the hearts of Nigerians were torn apart. How could he address a protest that had been ongoing for over a week in 12 minutes? Did he just summarize or was that all?
Well, we're all aware that Nigeria is going through painful birth pangs. As to when she would put forth, we know not.
But a question sits pretty in our minds, are we ready for the wind of change?๐ค
It is in such happenstance that we're asked to encourage ourselves in the Lord.
Everyone needs encouragement in their lives. Encouragement infuses hope and strength when life gets tough. But, as we grow and mature in our walk with the Lord, we will realize that sometimes there is no one available to encourage us because everyone around seems to be dealing with their crisis.
It looks like the world is so self-consumed that encouragement to others is scarce now.
The pressures and busyness of life leave little room for anyone else, and, with a lack of encouragement, people are becoming hopeless. They are turning to destructive behaviors, becoming addicts, and even contemplating suicide. We are all in need of someone in our lives to lean on, to find comfort in, and to share our burdens.
There are tireless arms for us to lean on. Only He who fashioned the Universe can lead us through the twists and turns and bring us to behold His great promise for Nigeria.
