2020: Count yo' blessings

Hiya! How has been your day so far? How are the celebrations🎄 going? 

Kudos 🎉! You've seen the last Sunday in 2020.👌

Phew! It's been a loooooooong year😪. Hasn't it?

Where has 2020 gone?💁😳

We all know 2020 was a year like no other. It has been a whole ride🚙. It had several definitions on the lips of many. We all experienced an unexpected turn of events.

It’s impossible to talk about this year without discussing our losses — lives, jobs, hope, leadership.

When the news🎙 of Covid came, I reckoned it would perch lightly and head out of town almost immediately. Cheerlessly, we all augmented our linguistic repertoire with new lexicons like quarantine, lockdown, entanglement, social distancing, etc.📕

Ooops 😮, no one envisaged the vicious ravage of the world by Mr. Corona. Going out required that you don the obligatory face mask and have a sanitizer with you. 

Online learning became a forte for almost everyone. Zoom parties and classes became the thing. 

Staying indoors became costlier than being on the streets.

The importance of being able to step out and breathe in the fresh air that had been taken for granted was finally appreciated.

We all learned to survive without seeing lots of people.🤔

We teamed up against a common enemy courtesy of the EndSars Movement. Every media outlet was agog with #ENDSARS.

The US elections ✅  were an interesting variety for us all.

We laughed and moved on.

However, we all know we've got so much to be thankful for.

If you are sincere, you'd attest to the fact that God showed up for you at every tomb of every Lazarus. He planted flowers even in the muddiest parts of your heart.

2020 has been a tumultuous year.

Several botched plans, lessons learned, and skills acquired.

And in the spirit of merriment, can we take some time off and assess our lives. The teeny weeny wins you've failed to acknowledge 🏆, the brave feats you surmounted, the battles 🛡️ you won, the seen and unseen dangers you were protected from, the fears you allayed, the strides 🏃 you made towards your goal, etc.

Unending are the lists but I hope you remember to appreciate He who made all these possible.

As the old year retires and a new one is born, we commit into the hands of our Creator the happenings of the past year and ask for direction and guidance in the new one. May he grant us his grace, his tranquility, and His wisdom!
