A Real Quest

Hey there. Hope your day has been going beautifully.

How has the weather been at your end?  Welcome to August! ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜

I'll like to share some thoughts I've gleaned from Matt 20:29-34

How determined are you in your quest for God? Are you oft dissuaded by the negative perspectives of the crowd?

The 2 blind men in the titular passage had a genuine need for Christ's mercy, and nothing would stop them. Their importunity prompted Christ to stand still for them and grant them an audience.

I'd like to parallel the naysaying multitude in that passage with present-day trends, opinions, and perspectives. These opinions may attempt to hinder you actively or passively from focusing your earnest pleas on Jesus. They are so designed to dilute your quest for God. They may come in different ways, but their singular purpose is to cause a deflection in your pursuit.

Emulate the ways of the blind men. They knew that they could be cured only by the One Man, and they sought Him fervently. "He shall behold the travails of your soul, and He shall be satisfied. . ."  Heaven wants to know, " How bad do you want it?" It was as though Christ meant to see how serious they were, so He waited until they'd very well ignored the multitude before He paid attention to them. What is the depth of your desire? Will you be easily shushed up by the clamouring din of the world? Or are you much ready to press further, ignoring the noisome distractions from all around?

One more noteworthy lesson about these 2 guys is that once they received their sight, they followed Jesus. They weren't just interested in the works of His hands. They actually left their all - the coffers - and followed Christ.

This is the mark of a genuine quest: "Going beyond what Christ can give you, to what He is to you".

When their eyes were opened, they saw that following Jesus would lead them on to grander sights, and so they followed still.

I pray that you'll develop a genuine quest for God.  And may you earnestly seek His face, and not just His hands.
